This news article is shocking, Constantinople Patriarchate isn't the 'main head' of the Church, I assume it's a liberal tabloid so they don't know anything.
Nothing much personally, I hope our Hierarchs sort this problem out. My gut feeling talking to some of the guys here, is most of the people in this Brotherhood wouldn't support Patriarch Bartholomew's actions.
My personal view is, Church of Constantinople is on it's dying breath, the Turks have made it such that after Patriarch Bartholomew dies, they pretty much wont be able to elect another Patriarch, they really are on their last leg.
I know he has been trying to work on making what ever little land the Church of Constantinople has left in Istanbul into like a Orthodox Vatican, territory free from the Turkish laws to just allow the Church to survive past him so they can Ordain Priests and Bishops, according to Turkish laws, they can't even do that, the Turks are not letting him move an inch, they want Orthodoxy only a memory in Istanbul to ensure we don't have any 'Retake Constantinople' desires, considering we nearly took the city back in the Balkan Wars, which is why Ankara is today their Capital and not Istanbul.
From what I know, the US government has approached Patriarch Bartholomew with some $$$ and a promise to push the Turks and help with his Orthodox Vatican project, if only, he help the US with their Russian problem.
Thus we have what we have today.
Patriarch Bartholomew will learn however, just like Saddam Hussein learnt and today Kurds are learning, making deals with the US is making deals with the devil, and he will probably die as the last Patriarch of Constantinople with the ruined reputation as the man who divided the Orthodox Church.
This is still not such a shock to me, even though we were conflicted even when Nike gave the Ukrainian church autochefality, ours were against that decision, then we came to a possible rift between the Serbian Orthodox Church and Montenegro in the form of property. Well, our long and difficult period awaits ours as far as our Church is concerned. I think Nikea and Patriarch Bartholomew will also tell us if we still do not obey what can happen to us and our church.
@Marko Jovanović Serb Church is independent with our own Patriarch, they have no authority over us, we aren't Catholics where the Pope has that sort of authority over other Bishops or Patriarchs. He didn't give them anything, he simple recognized them which is against the Church Canon law, thus not legal, Independent Ukrainian Church need approval from the Russian mother Church before it's a legal autocephaly, all he is doing is splitting the Church up so we can argue politically.
This will eventually sort itself out, it might take 200 years, it will sort itself out.
I still rather have our problem than the problems Roman Catholics are having, where the Pope is having Muslim prays in the Vatican and Pagan witch ceremonies, while Catholic parishes are celebrating clown masses.
Most right minded Catholics would wish they had our simple political disagreements.
